The purpose of this blog is to show a Mastercam user how to setup a part for use on an HMC. This includes the initial part setup in Mastercam, as well as the post processor that needs to be selected.
The HMC allows you to use different fixturing techniques, which can be beneficial when doing heavier parts that requires optimized production setups.
In this blog we will explore the recommended way for setting up your Mastercam file for 3 and 4 axis HMC’s, and we will explore the practical and software related differences that influences the setup concepts. We also added a bonus tip in the end that shows how to use a toolpath transform in combination with a multi-axis link, allowing you to precisely control your transition motion between toolpaths on the 4 axis HMC.
